I have been a creative perfumer for over 35 years – in fact I have done nothing else. I own a small independent perfumery called The Cotswold Perfumery in Bourton on the Water, England where I have my shop, laboratory, compounding room, factory and perfume garden. It is where I create new fragrances, where I teach perfumery and where I manufacture our product range. I am passionate about the subject of perfumery and feel very fortunate to have stumbled across this wonderful industry that has dominated my life.
By sharing some of the excitement of creative perfumery as well as the problems facing a small business I hope in this blog to be able to contribute towards the wealth of knowledge whether it be discussing the workings of the nose, dispelling some of the myths surrounding perfumery or maybe just warning those setting out about the possible pitfalls.
